Frémont Sierra Expedition 2026: Retracing an 1844 Journey Across the Sierra

Five endurance athletes and researchers walked roughly 100 miles of Frémont's documented 1844 winter route through the Sierra between September 9 and 13, 2026, recording it with GPS, film, photography and daily field journals. The presentation covers what they found, the questions still open, and the role Indigenous guides played in the original crossing.

The no-host bar opens at 5pm, seating begins at 5:30pm and light appetizers are served at 5:45pm. The program runs 6pm to 7:30pm and tickets are $35, with 15 percent off for Friar Society members.
