Miner's Picnic

Empire Mine State Historic Park holds its long-running Miner's Picnic, a tradition that began in 1895 as a benefit for the families of miners who died on the job. Visitors bring a picnic lunch to eat on the grounds while live music and performances run through the afternoon.

Docents in period dress lead tours of the mine owner's cottage and clubhouse, and hard rock mining equipment is demonstrated on site. Historic games are set up for children.
